Meal Tree – Food Donation Platform

Food Donation App

Meal Tree is a food donation app designed to address the issue of excess food waste by facilitating food donations. This app serves both individuals and businesses, including restaurants, who have surplus food and wish to donate it, as well as individuals seeking to receive food donations. For instance, a restaurant with excess food at the end of the day can use the app to donate it to a local food bank. Subsequently, individuals in need can access and consume this surplus food, thereby preventing it from being discarded in a landfill site, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable food distribution system.

Motivation for the project

The drive behind the Meal Tree Project stems from my deep passion for sustainability and the desire to provide a valuable service to people worldwide. Growing up in a developing country and observing individuals who struggle to access daily meals has been a significant source of motivation. Food is a fundamental necessity, and its demand is universal. It’s my firm belief that every individual should have equitable access to it without any form of discrimination.

Furthermore, I am deeply concerned by the pervasive issue of unnecessary food wastage. There is an alarming amount of food that goes to waste needlessly. This has spurred me to take action and contribute to the fight against food waste, aiming to prevent such unwarranted loss. I firmly believe that the more effort we collectively invest in addressing this problem, the closer we come to finding a solution. I have faith that if people had the means, they would readily make a positive impact.
