MySabri

To develop a prototype which incorporates a voice integrated service system to enable customers to effectively conduct their shopping trip.

Objectives
  • To examine the customer needs
  • To use the Sainsbury’s design system ‘Luna’ to design the prototype to keep consistency in all design elements
  • To provide a user-friendly interface that can benefit a range of customers
  • Integrate voice interface effectively
Background

During my master’s studies, I undertook a module in service design. During which, I have received a brief from Sainsbury’s. They are the UK’s second-largest supermarket chain. Sainsbury’s provides a huge range of services from in-store to online. The brief was to work as a team to produce a voice experience for an in-store product. The project was set up in a way where the skill sets of all team members are considered. It was my role as a digital designer to work with the team and contribute to the user experience side of the project. The main tasks from my side were: Ideation, creation of wireframes, UI design, implementation of a rapid prototype with a voice-over. It showcases what the possible voice experience will be.

Design Tools & Research

I  used Adobe XD to produce the prototype and as a team we conducted research on how Mysabri could help effectively conduct their shopping in-store. There were several visits to the Sainsbury’s stores to analyse the shopping environment and primary research conducted on analysing some current issues the customers are facing whilst doing their shopping. Several users were identified and personas were implemented.

Service Design Tools

Service design tools were used to identify features which would best suit the Mysabri App.

  • User Personas
  • User journey maps
  • Wireframing
  • User flow diagrams
  • Prototyping
Prototype Iteration

The project itself was an iterative one. There were two iterations to the prototyping. After the first prototyping stage, we received feedback from the Sainsburys team and therefore made changes which help to improve the design, accessibility and functionality of the app for a wide range of users.
